The final step to your automated float plan is to "close" your trip. If your activated float plan is not closed by your preset overdue time, an overdue notification email is automatically sent. This automated email advises you and the filed members on your trip to close your float plan. If there is no response within 30 minutes of the overdue notification email your prepared contact list will be sent an Emergency Action Message. Your contact list can attempt to contact you and the members of your boat crew and if necessary, start the process of attempting local emergency response teams.
"Close" your float plan as soon as possible upon the safe return of your trip.
Note: Members of your boat crew or contact list can "close" your float plan if you choose. There are numerous ways to close a Float Plan:
- log onto USFloatplan.com
- use the Link on the "Overdue Notification" or "Emergency Action Message" email
- access the plan by PDA: http://www.usfloatplan.com/mobile.php
- call the automated phone system at 407-809-4171.
* Failure to close a plan promptly may result in a needless diversion of search and rescue resources.
